QA Test Pack

Z Video Generator · June 2026

Z Video Generator turns a text prompt into a short video using the Z.AI video API. This pack walks you through generating, playing, and saving a video, and gives you a short plan to exercise the app’s main flows in a few minutes.

Test API key

A pre-funded Z.AI key is provided in the App Review notes for this submission — paste it into the app on first launch. It is stored in the macOS Keychain and is never shown on this page.

Quick start

  1. Launch the Z Video Generator review build. On first launch it opens the API-key screen.
  2. Paste the test API key from the App Review notes and save. The sidebar status light turns green once Z.AI accepts it.
  3. Click Generate Video, write a prompt (or paste one from below), pick settings, and Generate.
  4. Watch the status update, then play the result and Save to Downloads.

Test plan

  1. Single generation. Write a prompt and Generate. Status moves SubmittingProcessing on Z.AI serversReady. The video plays in the detail view.
  2. Concurrent jobs. Add a second job with Generate Video and run both. They process in parallel up to the app’s concurrent limit.
  3. Prompt library. After a success, Save prompt, then reopen it from the library to start a fresh job with the same settings.
  4. Settings. Change size, aspect ratio, fps, or audio and Regenerate. The output reflects the chosen dimensions and options.
  5. Save & open. Save to Downloads writes an MP4; Open opens the result on z.ai in a browser.
  6. Out of credit. The test key has limited credit. Once it’s spent, a generation fails with a clear “out of credit” message and the app offers a Reload API key action (plus a Top up at Z.AI link) instead of a bare error — that is expected, correct behavior.

Sample prompts

Copy any of these into the prompt field to generate right away:

  • A red panda climbing through a green bamboo forest at golden hour, dappled sunlight, soft natural light, gentle tracking shot.
  • A neon-lit Tokyo street in the rain at night, reflections on the wet asphalt, people with umbrellas, cinematic, slow dolly forward.
  • A cozy log cabin in a snowy forest at dawn, smoke rising from the chimney, soft golden light through the windows, gentle snowfall.

What a correct result looks like

A playable MP4 that matches the requested dimensions and aspect ratio (for example, 1920×1080 for 16:9 HD), lasts the chosen duration (5 or 10 s), includes audio if requested, plays in-app, and downloads as a valid file that opens in QuickTime.

Notes for review

Z Video Generator is a bring-your-own-key client: it has no account of its own, and its only network destination is api.z.ai over HTTPS. The API key is stored in the macOS Keychain and is never logged. The app runs in the App Sandbox, collects no analytics or personal data, and performs no tracking. The test key provided in the App Review notes is pre-funded and disposable.
